TITLE: Manager, Strategic Grants and Allocations

DEPARTMENT: Global and Local Impact and Allocations

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

FUNCTION: The Manager, Strategic Grants and Allocations is responsible for understanding and facilitating the allocation of our communal resources to best meet community needs. This position will be responsible for helping fulfill the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas’s mission through the allocation of charitable funds to partner organizations in Dallas, Israel, and throughout the world.

The Manager, Strategic Grants and Allocations will be a critical part of the allocations process; assist and work collaboratively to identify and assess community needs; create plans to meet those needs through partnerships, allocations, and project development; evaluate the impact of our investments using analytical tools; and craft compelling data informed narratives of our Federation’s impact. Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager, Global and Local Impact and Allocations will be responsible for moving the agenda forward and stewarding our grant funded partners. They will staff the Planning and Allocations committee, Israel and Overseas committee, and the Partnership committee during its consideration of NGO allocations in our Western Galilee partnership region. Essential Job Functions:

• Manage components of the Federation’s local and global allocations processes including: application and review, compilation of data, logistical support, and communications related to funding requests and allocation decisions
• Receive all agency communications to understand impact and ensure standards are maintained. Review all agency reports, identify key statistics on partner agencies to understand impact and create a metrics- driven report card
• Work with the Chief Operating Officer to create meaningful engagement and education opportunities for the Planning & Allocations and Israel & Overseas committees as well as additional task forces as identified
• Participate on an internal cross-functional team focused on generating a model for measuring outcomes and reporting related to the impact of the Federation’s funding and initiatives
• Represent the Federation as a Planning and Allocations professional and Israel and Overseas professional to the Jewish Federation of North America and other partners, with an eye toward sharing and learning best practices
• Identify unmet needs the community may want to fund by liaising with the Campaign team to identify opportunities for designated giving
• Acts as project manager for special projects that may include working independently to plan and coordinate multiple presentations, disseminating information and coordinating strategies and/or meetings
• Cultivate trusting and mutually respectful relationships to strengthen and enhance local impact with funded partners and local Jewish organizations while supporting the Federation in convening local partners, strategic task forces, and funded partner meetings
• Identify meaningful stories and obtain key data to drive decision making and allow for effective communication of our impact
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and culture, working with team members and volunteers to support one another’s success
• Develop and utilize skills in Excel, CRM and other relevant technological and data analytic tools to accurately manage information and perform other job duties
• In coordination with the Director, Corporate and Legacy Gifts, identify grant seeking opportunities to expand Federation’s sources of revenue, as well as opportunities for our partner agencies to capitalize on augmentative funding sources beyond the Federation’s allocations appropriate to their unique missions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Focus in planning, non-profit management, business, or analytics preferred. .

Experience: Minimum of three plus years related experience in planning and impact measurement, community organizing, project and fiscal management. Previous grant-making experience a strong plus.
Previous experience with a non-profit organization, in a professional, internship or volunteer capacity preferred.
Experience in research techniques (surveys, data analysis, etc.) nonprofit management, and/or research roles a plus.
Knowledge of the Dallas Jewish community and/or knowledge of the organized Jewish community is preferred.
